Continuum of Colorado has an opportunity for a results-driven Director of Finance to develop the organizations’ financial strategic plan, to include growth and effective management of revenue. This role will manage the overall financial activities of the organization.
In this position, you will provide oversight to all financial reporting, budgeting, tax filing requirements and contractual obligations. Our director helps to develop and implement financial management strategies, fundraising strategies, and related policies and procedures.  This role is responsible for managing all accounting and billing functions and has oversight of Information Technology. 
Our office is in the Aurora, CO area (exit 5 of of I-225) - just north east of the Denver Tech Center. We’re committed to a great work-life balance here so our offices are closed on Fridays. This position is Monday - Thursday, typically doing a 10-hr day for a 40-hr workweek.
Fundamental elements of the position that our of Director of Finance is responsible for:
  • Advising executive leadership and the organization on all strategic and tactical matters related to budget management, cost benefit analysis, forecasting needs and funding securement
  • Participating as a strategic partner in the development of the organization's plans and programs and collaborating with executive leadership on the organization’s strategic vision
  • Evaluating and advising on the impact of long-range financial planning, introduction of new programs and strategies, and relevant regulatory interactions
  • Participating in developing new business and funding opportunities
  • Developing, implementing, and evaluating company and departmental policies and procedures to ensure compliance with internal and external financially related requirements
  • Protecting the organization’s assets by establishing, over-seeing and enforcing internal controls; and advising management of financial liabilities and potential risks
  • Assisting with creating and implementing departmental goals and objectives and ensures they align with the organization's strategic goals and objectives
  • Interpreting legislative and programmatic rules and regulations and ensuring programmatic success through cost analysis support and compliance with all federal, state and local government contractual requirements

  • Provide status financial updates for the organization; attend Board of Directors and audit/finance committee meetings
  • Oversee the development of an operating budget and monitors operating results
  • Oversee management and coordination of all fiscal reporting activities
  • Review and approve prospective programmatic budgets
  • Provide training, education and advice to executive leadership, directors and staff that raises awareness, knowledge and practice of sound financial management practices
  • Oversee departmental staffing, workload distribution and employee relations related matters
  • Coordinate, develop and manage performance of direct reports and team through ongoing supervision and coaching; ensure employees have the resources and training needed to perform their job responsibilities
  • Maintain and grow relationships with outside business consultants and internal and external partners 
  • Provide guidance regarding compensation and benefits, retirement plans, life insurance and other executive benefits
  • Participate in State meetings or workgroups that are relevant to financial management and contracts
  • Oversee the coordination and activities of independent auditors

Requirements to be our Director of Finance
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Accounting, or an effective combination of related education and work experience
  • Ten (10) plus years in Finance/Accounting
  • Seven (7) plus years of financial experience with day-to-day management and/or supervision of operations in an organization of at least 50 persons
  • Thorough working knowledge of not-for-profit accounting in accordance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, program regulations and compliance requirements and appropriate Code of Federal Regulations sections
  • Thorough working knowledge of appropriate accounting related computer software and equipment
  • Working knowledge of the legal requirements mandated by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the Department of Labor (DOL), the Colorado Civil Rights Division (CCRD), and the Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Valid Colorado driver’s license/proof of insurance
  • Meet our agency driving requirements; no suspensions/less than three (3) tickets in three years
  • Master’s degree, preferred
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA), preferred
  • Nonprofit experience, highly preferred
  • Public accounting experience, preferred
